Allegro, an E-commerce Company, to Install 2,500 Parcel Lockers in Poland by 2025

According to Reuters, Allegro, an e-commerce company, plans to expand its parcel locker network by 2,500 units in Poland this year to increase the use of their delivery services. CFO Jon Eastick emphasized the goal of boosting the share of parcels managed by the company to gain more control over deliveries and reduce costs. In 2024, Allegro's delivery expenses increased to 2.84 billion zlotys. They have been collaborating with merchants and introduced their parcel lockers, surpassing 4,500 in Poland and 500 in the Czech Republic. Allegro has initiated its delivery program partnering with Orlen and soon with DHL, handling end-to-end delivery. 24% of parcel volumes in the fourth quarter were managed by Allegro, foreseeing cost competitiveness by 2025. Trigon brokerage analysts noted the unexpected rise in logistics spending by Allegro, signaling a setback for InPost, whose shares dropped 5.9%. There is a concern about InPost losing a substantial portion of Allegro's volumes once their partnership expires in 2027. Eastick noted the clear contractual relationship with InPost but underlined exploring cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality and convenience for consumers.
