AI Leaps to $3.3 Billion Valuation with General Catalyst-Led Fundraising

Nvidia-backed Together AI announced on Thursday that it has successfully raised $305 million in its latest funding round, significantly increasing the artificial intelligence startup's valuation from the previous year.

The funding round, spearheaded by venture capital firm General Catalyst, valued the San Francisco-based company at $3.3 billion. Participants in the fundraising included Salesforce Ventures, chip giant Nvidia, and Coatue, with co-leadership from Prosperity7 — the venture capital fund of Aramco Ventures.

This new capital injection aims to support Together AI's expansion of its cloud platform, focusing on the widespread deployment of Nvidia Blackwell graphics processing units. Established in 2022, Together AI's cloud platform empowers developers and researchers to train and utilize generative AI models.

In the previous year, a funding round led by Salesforce Ventures had already raised $106 million, highlighting the company's appeal due to its provision of access to Nvidia's highly sought-after GPUs. Noteworthy is Together AI's platform that backs over 200 open-source models, including Meta Platforms' Llama and products from China's DeepSeek.

The recent disruption caused by DeepSeek's latest launch has underscored doubts about the United States' technological dominance. This development underscores the importance of Together AI's efforts in ensuring secure and powerful model accessibility for organizations worldwide, as stated by Prosperity7 Ventures Managing Director Abhishek Shukla.

Having grown its user base to over 450,000 AI developers in the past year, Together AI is poised for further expansion and impact in the AI landscape.
