Adele has been accused of hindering the sale of a £6m mansion she once occupied by claiming it was haunted, as reported by the property owners.

The singer rented the Grade II-listed Lock House in Partridge Green, West Sussex, in 2012.

The owners have applied for permission to convert the property into three residential units and a separate cottage by renovating an existing garage and flat.

In their submission, the owners stated that Adele's previous comments about the house being haunted had a negative impact on the property's sale process and reputation, following her brief stay there.

During an interview with Anderson Cooper on CBS while residing at Lock House, Adele mentioned feeling uneasy in some areas, but did not explicitly describe the house as "haunted."

Despite subsequent attempts to sell the property over 14 years, including one offer in August 2020, interest waned due to concerns related to its alleged haunted status.

Originally built around 1909 and extensively renovated in 1940, Lock House and its 32-acre grounds boast numerous features, including 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a tennis court, a helicopter pad, and a cinema room.

The property is currently listed for sale at £5,995,000.
