1915 Lost Lincoln Silent Film Rediscovered in Long Island Archive

26-year-old intern Dan Martin discovered the only surviving copy of 'The Heart of Lincoln,' a 1915 silent film, at Historic Films Archive in Greenport. Once considered lost among 7,000 silent films by the Library of Congress, this 65-minute film has been digitized to 4K quality.

This significant find is one of only 3,000 remaining silent films from its era, providing a special insight into Civil War history and Lincoln's enduring legacy. The film, directed by Ford, brother of Oscar-winning filmmaker John Ford, will be gifted to the Library of Congress for preservation.
